I don't know about y'all, but I love savin' a penny or two at the store. Why would you pay for somethin' when you can make it yourself? That's my motto. So I'm gonna share a few of my favorite ways to save money. Head on over to our Pinterest page if you wanna get some more tips.
1. If you do your shopping online, never checkout without seein' if the store has a promo code. Free shippin'? Count me in, hun! Take a gander at "retailmenot.com", "coupons.com" or just google the name of the store with "promo code" after it. These folks like y'all savin' money, too!
2. What's the deal with paper towels? Why do we pay a lot for somethin' we instantly toss in the trash? I like to go with the cheap brands. They all get the job done. As the commercial says "do you really want a paper towel that can hold a bowling ball?" If so, I'd like to meet ya and see just what you're tryin' to do with a bowling ball and paper towel. To each their own, though. * However, don't skimp on the TP. Take care of your bottoms and steer clear of that John Wayne paper.
3. Make your own cleanin' supplies. None of us like to do housework, so why would we pay $5 for a bottle of disinfectant when we can make it for less than .20 cents? Do y'all know most cleanin' supplies are 90% water?! Blasphemy! Pinterest has a bundle of instructions on how to make your own. I know y'all are thinkin' you don't wanna spend all day makin' some cleanin' spray, but trust me, they're so quick and easy a opossum could do it! (I.e. Febreeze, windex, laundry soap, disinfecting wipes..)
4. Eat in! Cookin' ain't never killed no one anyhow. Did you have a long day or just don't feel like slaving over a stove? Then I'll give you the best tip I have. A crockpot is a girls best friend! It caint get no easier than throwin' ingredients in a pot and lettin' it cook all day. Not mention makin' your whole homestead smell delectable.
5. Don't waste no money on buyin' those soda drinks. Go buy some sugar, tea bags, and use your own water! If you've got a family of the thirstiest people alive, make yourself a couple jugs. It's fast, easy, and there ain't no better drink! Throw some in a tumbler and you ain't never gonna have to stop at a convenience store again! *If you're gonna spend money on drinks, it better be somethin' strong, sweetie.
6. When grocery shopping, don't be ashamed to use coupons and compare store prices! A lot of them stores will price-match. You walk up to that counter and be proud! You're saving money, honey! Start small and you will work your way up! You rock those savings, sweetheart. Even if it is just 50 cents.
7. My most preached about tip of all time. NEVER buy on impulse. If you're in a store and you see a darling sweater? Put it back, think if you really need that sweater and if you really want to pay $20 for it. What about those cookies? Did you go to the store hungry? Probably. Put. Them. Back. And refer to tip #4. I do the 3 day rule. If I go back to a store, or online, in 3 days and I still can't live without somethin', I buy it. But 9 times out of 10, the urge has done went and left me.
